Where are my glasses? I can't see the screen!
One day, early in the morning (10:00 a.m. in this household) shortly after we woke, my mother’s phone beeped to tell her she had new mail. I passed the phone to her and she said:
I don’t have my glasses. I’ll read it later.
It was then I realised how often we expect things to “just work” and often skip over tailoring our devices to our needs. It’s the difference between heating ready-made dishes that work out fine and picking ingredients and cooking a dish that suits your tastes.
So here we go on an attempt to adjust the salt size of your dishes devices.
Choose a Platform
- Open the Settings app.
Wait how do I do that?
There are many ways to open the Settings on your Android device. The easiest is probably to- Place your finger at the top of your screen
- Drag down and let go. You have opened the Notification and Quick Settings panel!
- Tap on the tiny ⚙ gear icon.
- If you don't see it, repeat steps 1 - 2 again and it should appear.
- Look for the menu item that has Display in its name and tap on it.
- Tap on the menu item saying Font size.
The font size is how big you want text to appear. This setting makes it easier to read text. - Just place your finger on the dot that isn’t black and slide your finger to the right to make text bigger and to the left to make text smaller.
- Take off your glasses and look at the preview text and settle at a comfortable size.
- The changes are immediately saved and applied throughout your phone!
- Press the back button.
- Look for the menu item Display size.
The display size is how big you want elements to appear. Increasing this makes icons and buttons bigger! - Again place your finger on the dot that is not black (this marks the current size!).
- Slide away to your suited size. And press home.
Keep in mind, this is to tailor your device to your taste ‒ ehm ‒ sight!
Now you can see who is calling you without hunting for your glasses!
